My coworkers and I tried Sarpino's for the first time today and we were blown away. The pizzas and calzone were excellent. Great flavor and high quality ingredients, and at a great price. Very impressed. Plus, the owner delivered our order himself and even carried it to our department, even though we met him at the door. We'll definitely be back. (And probably next week.) :) Thanks so much!

Spent $40 on pizza to be delivered to my work for a network meeting. They were one hour late, the order was wrong, incomplete and cold. There was very little cheese on the pizza. It was the worst, pizza and service I have ever recieved. We have 2000 employees in our company, I will not recommend your business to any of my collegues. John

We are not happy about having to wait approximately 1/2 hour for our delivery today. The delivery was requested for 11:30 but finally arrived at nearly 12:00. The delivery person said there had been some "problems with your system", but I don't think that's a good enough excuse. I initiated this order several days ago on line, confirmed it Monday by phone, and called again this morning to see if you would provide utensils, plates and napkins. The food was fine, although the pizza had cooled down somewhat probably because the delivery person came via the street instead of the skywalk. We are disappointed, in fact almost didn't pay for the food; we will probably order from Dominoes next time.

I requested anchovies in my online order. Store called within minutes to let me know they were temporarily out and to ask what I would like as a replacement topping. Very impressed.

I just ordered a Reg Pepperoni CLZ from here and instead of putting pepperoni in it, it looks like it is a spicy sausage or some type of salami because pepperoni's are supposed to be red and what I have in my calzone is brown. I am not a fan of sausage, so I am unable to finish my meal that I paid for. I am not usually the type of person to complain, but when I am unable to eat the meal I just paid for that upsets me. I didn't have time to take the food back in considering I am on a lunch break so am only allowed a specific amount of time.

Every time I go in there they don't have sausage or pepperoni. And today they had sausage from this morning and sold it to customers. Anyway the reason I'm commenting is today the pizza was cold and old!!!

We ordered pizzas at 7:10. We did not get it until 9:05. We were staying at the holiday inn airport. The lady at the service desk said they quit suggestion saprino because of that same reason. She called saprino andcomplained to the person in charge. He told her to tell that therr was no manger on duty who could adjust any discount. He finally told thr service desk lady that he was going to let us have the pizzas but let us know it will come out of his pay! Unbelievable. I was not asking anyone to pay for my pizzas I just wanted it in a reasonabe time. Just thought I would let you know,

The person taking my order was rude, she did not say pleasee or thank you. She gave me my pizza on a dirty tin plate with a platic plate. I left the tin plate and went to the salad bar. I came back as there were no plates for the salad over there. The man (who was nicer) offered me a to go container and said it would be weighed after I ordered. The girl said no that I had the special which is why she gave me the tin plate. It would have helped had she explained this up front. The salad bar was rather bare, no regular lettuce and a little bit of the darker green kind. I felt it would do no good to complain. I then noticed that I did not have a drink cup and that the fountain machine was out of order. I went back to the main counter and got a cup and used the fountain machine on the other side of the room. I will avoid this place in the future as the guy in line with me told me that he is not sure why he keeps coming, he said that he keeps hoping it will be better and it never is....

I went to the Sarpinos on my lunch break, I waited arround 23 mins for a gyro salad, the customer service from the girl Cashier was horrible she was really rude and also I was walking out when she yelled "HEY YOU" so I turned arround and she was referring to me, she forgot to put the gyro meat on the salad which was not that much; I got to work and found out the salad is dried and the olives have some green dots and are really wrinkly( they are moldy) I could not eat the salad I did not even touch the thing, I am going to get out of work and take that salad back to the Sarpino"s and demanda my money back, really moldy olives??? I could get the department of public health involved in this but I am a nice person, so far you guys had ruing my day of work and I am not hungry anymore I had to skip my lunch meal because of this.
please do something about it.

I ordered a medium pizza and cheese bread for delivery. I placed the order at 9pm. The person on the phone said they would have it here in 45 minutes. I got the order 1 hour and 35 minutes later!!! The pizza and cheese sticks were cold, the delivery kid was rude...very bad experience. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I was staying at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines...and ordered from the Sarpinos downtown...less than 5 minutes away! Unexcuseable...unacceptable!

I was told when I ordered that the pizzas would be delivered in 45-55 minutes. The pizzas showed up 1 hour and 25 minutes later. The pizza was cold. I would not have ordered if I knew it would take that long.

I ordered food online on 1/13/11. After three hours of phone calls and mistreatment (no need for detials here), I discovered this store had routed my order to another store and lost it. I never got an apology and I never got the food I ordered. I advised someone in the store I wanted the charge removed from my debit card. This was removed until a few days later when I filed a complaint with the BBB. On this exact same date, the charge reappeared on my bank account. I have not been able to get it removed. Sarpinos took my money and never brought me any food!

I ordered a day ahead of time for our pizza to be delivered at 11:45 am. I called at 11:50 to see if they had left yet and was told our order was ready but they were waiting for the driver to return. Our food arrived at 12:30 and was cold. Ten orders of onion rings went to waste because no one ate then they were so cold. I spent $227 and felt that it was quite a waste. If the food is going to be that late I could have been given the option to pick it up. Since the food was done at 11:50 when I called that means it sat out for 40 minutes before we even got it. I had 25 very unhappy people. Being that we order lunches once a week for this group you had the potential to have alot of business with us. I do have to comment that your driver was very nice, very apologetic and even helped me set stuff out to help get people eating quicker. Very nice man.

The pizza tasted okay but ...
I work at an office a couple of blocks away from Sarpinos. I tried to use the online form to order the Sarpino's Sampler for my team; this gives you two pizzas for a reduced price. Since the order form doesn't allow you to select two pizzas, even if you hold ctrl, I ended up calling the to place my order, which is fine.
So, I ordered the two pizzas and a 6-pack of Coke. The guy apparently couldn't hear me clearly when I tried to give him my credit card number because it took four tries to get it right. I could very clearly hear the extremely loud radio playing in the background, so it's not surprising he couldn't hear me very well - maybe they could be a little less entertained by the radio if it would help them take calls. Not that big a deal, other than I'm loudly stating my credit card number, four distinct times, with him loudly stating it back - my office is big enough that I don't know everyone who works here - I have no idea who might have overheard on his end.
Anyway, he alternately told me 45 minutes to an hour and half-hour to 45 minutes for the estimate. Either was fine, so I didn't really care. I had a meeting in an hour and a half, so that would leave me time to have a quick bite and attend my meeting.
However, an hour and a quarter later, I tried to call, went to voice mail, with no option to leave a message. Tried again a couple minutes later and again a couple minutes later until I finally got someone, who told me my pizza was going in right then, they only have one delivery guy, having problems because of the snow and may have another one coming in. That's fine; I can understand the weather being an issue, although the weather was actually a little nice by then than it was an hour and a quarter earlier when they could have accounted for the fact they only had one delivery driver and the streets were bad before giving me an over-optimistic time estimate. So, I offer to walk the two blocks to pick it up.
Except when I get there, it's only THEN going into the oven. Which to me invalidates the whole point that they only have one delivery guy and streets are bad. In essence I've now been lied to at least twice.
So I can see pizza backing up on the oven while the guy cutting it is having a great time chatting with the girl running the register. Cutting pizza and boxing it up at his own speed. I'm not sure if those are MY pizzas sitting there on the oven waiting to be cut, but I'm thrilled to have an excuse to hang out and watch him flirt with the girl.
Oh, and my 6-pack of Coke? He wrote down Diet Coke ... which is fine - just give me Coke, which is what I wanted and what I ordered ... except she comes back with a 2-liter bottle ... which is fine, except I ordered cans; easier to distribute to people, don't need a cup; please give me a 6-pack of Coke ... except they don't HAVE 6-packs of Coke ... even though he took that order, charged me for it ... can you give me 6 individual cans? No, they don't have any Coke at ALL - merely the most popular soda in the WORLD! ... alright, give me my pizzas and my overly expensive $2.69 2-liter bottle of Coke which I paid $3.59 and let me get out of there.
Also, don't apologize for ANYTHING, don't give me anything for free, pizza, soda, dessert, don't give me any kind of refund; don't give me a coupon, which I would return anyway bacause I'll never be back. In fact, don't acknowledge that anything is out of the ordinary at all; because I assume it's not - that must just be a typical day at downtown Des Moines Sarpinos.
And now, by the time I get it back to the office, I'm late for my meeting, so I personally won't eat any of it anyway. At least I can take a can of Coke with me ... oh, wait - no, I guess I can't ... too bad I don't have time to go get a cup ...
Luckily, after my meeting there were still a couple of cold slices left. Totally worth $25.42!!

I have ALWAYS had excellent service and food from the Downtown Des Moines Sarpino's. They are my "go to" pizza delivery and I recommend them to everyone hungry for GREAT PIZZA!!!

I am Pregnant right now and sarpino's is the only pizza i crave!!! Its aways delivery fresh and hot!!! Thier pizza is one of a kind with a taste that cant be met by any other pizza company!! Although the person over the phone does not sound overly excited they are never rude and seem to get there job done right!!! Thanks sarapino's for satisfying my growing baby boy!!!

I order from Sarpinos at least 2 or 3 times a week and I'm always thrilled with the variety and excellent preparation of the food. I live on this menu and haven't gained an ounce either so must be healthy, huh?

First, your pizza is great! We had a couple of problems with the order (as reported in earlier feedback) but eventually the downtown Des Moines Sarpino's called and offered a free pizza to make up for the earlier problems. It was delicious! We'll be back!

This has to be the BEST pizza I've ever had--and I used to live in a Chicago suburb where an Italian immigrant had a pizzeria--this pizza tastes at least as good as his, probably better. The staff was very very friendly and helpful--will absolutely return!!

I tried your pizza for the 1st time last week. I must say it is AMAZING and that is coming from a picky eater. When I called to place the order the gal was very friendly and helpful as was the delivery driver. So Great food / Great Service!!
